The Northumberland Golf Club was formed in 1898 when members left a club on the Town Moor and leased land from High Gosforth Park to build a new course. A small clubhouse was built near the start of the straight mile.
The present clubhouse was built in 1913, of a traditional style, in a magnificent position nestling into the surrounding woods and with a view out over the course and High Gosforth Park.
The Main Loungeis an impressive oak panelled room which has recently been extended and refurbished. Its large bay window has magnificent views down the 1st and 18thfairways and onto the 18th green.
The Dining Roomseats 70 and has views down the 18th fairway. It's furniture was made by the famous ‘Mouseman’ of Kilburn, Yorkshire.
Men's and Lady's toiletsadjacent to the Main Lounge have recently been rebuilt.
The Men's Locker Roomhas been refurbished and extended. As well as golf bag lockers, there are kit bag lockers which are available for rental or daily hire.
The Men's Showers have been rebuilt and are well equipped with towels and hair driers.
The Card Roomadjacent to the Main Lounge is suitable for informal card playing and as a formal meeting room. It is available for hire by members.
The Mixed Loungehas views over the 1st tee and 18th fairway and green. It is used by Ladies on a Tuesday and mainly as a bar for large visiting parties.
The Sun Loungehas views over the 18th fairway and green. It is used by large visiting parties and is available for hire by members as a meeting room.
Opening Times
The Clubhouse is normally open from 7.00am until 10.30pm during the Summer and until 5.00pm in Winter. It may close early in the Winter evenings if there is no demand.
Bar Hours
Weekdays 11.30am to 10.30 in summer
11.30am to 5.00pm in winter
Sundays 12.00 to 8.30pm in summer
12.00 to 5.30pm winter
Race days
Daytime meetings The bar closes at 3.00pm or earlier if there is no demand and re-opens ½ hour after the last race.
Evening meetings The bar closes ½ hour after the first race and does not re-open after the end of racing.
